About Scientific Theories Now, whenever scientific mappings, limited ones as well as more expanded ones, proved to be useful, technologies were expanded and some times even new technologies emerged. Usefulness, though, is a far cry from the rather evasive and continuously changing “absolute truth” which the persons proffering such mappings claimed to have touched upon. I am NOT attempting to teach “absolute truth,” I prefer advancement of sciences and technologies and human growth. |
 Quite often there is talk about some “objective truth” which is then deeply rooted in primitive human principles of abstracting and relating abstractions to each other, which are perceived by the people teaching such things as something “absolute.” On a lower level this is Aristotelian thinking, and on a more advanced level non-Aristotelian thinking or general semantics.Well, being a human as well, I am using such methods, and I am also well aware that usefulness and not a claim of being capable of explaining it all is the goal. This means, that, when developing one or more theories or mappings about Action at a Distance and other scientific phenomena, the development of new technologies or new methods of interacting with our inner and outer - and other - environments, in combination with some ways of developing comprehensive mappings that explain relevant things around us, is what I am intending. Sometimes I am defining, or describing, objectivity as a collective subjectivity of a group of perceiving organisms who have similar structures of abstracting and of relating abstractions into mappings; and in many cases collective placebo effects have to be recognized as contributing factors when such “objective” mappings are developed. Let’s be clear about the following, and this is something, of which I became well aware long ago, already as a 15-year old teenager: Any factual basis compares to an under defined system of equations, where there are less equations (observed facts) than factors unknown, and any such system has infinite many solutions. In other words: no matter how many facts we know of some science, we will always find new facts. Based on this, one under-defined factual basis will be replaced by a more comprehensive one, which, too, is under-defined. Look at the big bang theory: Based on the assumption that the laws of physics are the same throughout the universe – totally improvable; and also based on the assumption that the reason for red-shift is movement, also non-provable. Yep! This seems correct in our backyards, and then of course one can “prove” assumptions based on assumptions based on assumptions, and if something does not fit neatly, then a new mythology – oh, I mean assumption, oh no! – I mean a newly discovered scientific fact, of course, - neatly can fill the gaps. How did the Romans say? “Nihil novi hac in orbe!” nothing new here under the Sun! As far as the Common Functional Principles of human ways of thinking, or of making sense of what they perceive and of correlating it all … even though we have nice new technical methods of measuring stuff, i.e., of expanding the capabilities of our sensory apparatus, there is very little difference between the type logical thinking (or lack thereof) practiced by people who claimed that “in the beginning God created Heaven and Earth” and those who claim that “in the beginning there was ‘the’ big bang.” – I love to call it the big bunk theory! Learn to read between the lines! |
